Product Engineer

Product Engineer has critical responsibility in preparing jobs for manufacture including design specifications, layout review, requirements compliance, and customer interface on product information.

As a product engineer you will maintain the dimensional integrity of products via continuous improvement & maintenance. You will be responsible for the dimensional integrity and cost performance of a portfolio of investment cast, super alloy, aerospace and power generation components.

Position works under the Engineering Manager and performs dimensional development and monitoring of production for assigned customer accounts.

 

Job Description

  • Provide program management for individual part portfolio Troubleshoot manufacturing problems & root cause analysis develop new, and refine existing investment casting product to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs
  • Support manufacturing to ensure on-time delivery of product through all operations
  • Work concurrently with customers to design components for castability
  • Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues
  • Maintain and improve casting scrap and rework, improve casting profitability through cost reductions
  • Achieve cost reduction through process improvements
  • Develop and refine manufacturing work instructions
  • Develop casting processes for new products
  • Assist sales department in quotation of new products
  • Achieve cost targets for development and production castings
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical process control Tooling design &/or CAD experience a plus
  • Interaction with die-maker, customer and tooling personnel
  • Develop and maintain necessary tools and procedures to meet customers’
  • Model/blueprint
  • Participate in correcting engineering-related problems
  • Review customer drawings and spec changes for impact

  • Understanding of safety, cost, and schedule risk mitigation for new processes and technologies

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), PC skills and program management skills
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and documentation skills
  • Proven success in process improvements using mathematical and statistical problem-solving techniques to identify process variations in manufacturing processes with many contributing variables

 

Education and experience

BS in Engineering.
Broad knowledge of mechanical, industrial, materials science engineering along with investment casting technology with knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques
Preferred Qualifications 3 years of work experience in a technical field with previous investment casting or aerospace experience desired.
